The Design Museum opened its ‘Designs of the Year' exhibition yesterday in a celebration of global design innovation at its home in Shad Thames, London. Designs from across the world within seven categories – Transport, Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Furniture, Graphics and Product – have been nominated by industry experts, with the nominations now on show at the Design Museum. The first of the transportation nominations is the Autolib, a Parisian electric car commissioned by Paris' Mayor, Bertrand Delanoë.
The Lexus RX 450h F Sport joins the 2012 range
The 2012 facelift for the hybrid SUV Lexus RX 450h will cost from £44,495, with the new RX 450h F Sport costing £51,995. The Geneva Motor Show in March was the debut for the facelift of the 2012 Lexus SUV offering – the RX 450h – with a new, sharper, sportier option added to the range in the guise of the RX 450h F Sport. Detroit inventors will soon have access to the ultimate do-it-yourself workshop. Having joined forces with Ford, TechShop is scheduled to launch one of its open-access facilities in the Motor City this winter. The facility will provide artists and inventors with machinery they might not otherwise have access to, like sheetmetal equipment, CNC plasma cutters and three-dimensional printers.
